IMPORTANT NOTICE

The Occupational Safety and Health Council ("the Council") has recently received numerous enquiries concerning some fire prevention and safety promotional, training or survey activities organized by some private bodies and organizations. The names adopted by these bodies and organizations typically suggest their expertise or special knowledge in fire safety and prevention, like "XX Fire Mutual Aid Community", "XX Fire Danger Concern Society" or "XX Fire Safety Research Centre". These bodies and organizations usually offer to provide talks or training courses on fire prevention and safety, and in a lot of cases, they even claim that their talks and courses are either conducted in co-operation with the Council or have been authorized or accredited by the Council. The enquires received by the Council further reveal that these bodies and organizations have made use of their activities to sell equipment and products which they claim will help fight or prevent fire.

The Council wishes to inform the public that (i) the Council does not in any way co-operate with any such bodies or organizations, (ii) these bodies and organizations are not connected to or associated with the Council in any way, and (iii) the activities of these bodies and organizations, whether talks or training courses or otherwise, have never been authorized or accredited by the Council. In case of doubts, the public should make inquires with the Council.

The Council promotes higher standards of safety and health for people at work, and inquiries relating to fire prevention and safety at work may be made to the Council.
