What is the OSH Enhancement Scheme for SME?

Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of Hong Kong's economy, and the driving force of our economic development. In order to encourage SMEs to implement OSH enhancement programmes as a means to raise their productivity and competitiveness, the Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC) has launched below sponsorship schemes for SME.

1. OSH Enhancement Scheme for SMEs for Safe Work at Confined Space

The scheme offers a maximum grant of $10,000 for SME to purchase gas testing equipment. The scheme also offers financial assistance for SMEs to conduct risk assessment. The subsidy ceiling for this purpose is $3,000 and each SME could be subsidised up to a maximum of three times within the year. However, an SME is not entitled to get subsidies for procuring gas testing equipment and risk assessment service simultaneously.

2.SME Sponsorship Scheme for Fall Arresting Equipment for Renovation & Maintenance Work

To improve working at height safety, the Council and the Labour Department launch a sponsorship scheme for renovation & maintenance SMEs to purchase a transportable temporary anchor device.For suppliers information, you may visit the website of "Hong Kong Occupational Safety & Health Products & Services Suppliers Directory" (www.safetydirectory.com.hk)

	3. Safe Ladder Sponsorship Scheme for SMEs To improve working at height safety, the Occupational Safety and Health Council launches this sponsorship scheme for SMEs to purchase a safe ladder. 	4. Sponsorship Scheme for Safety Inspection on Building Maintenance Works To enhance site safety of building refurbishment and maintenance works, the Occupational Safety and Health Council launches a sponsorship scheme for the Owners'Corporations and SME contractors to employ 'Accredited Safety Consultants' (Chinese version only) accredited by the Council to conduct safety inspection and recommend improvement measures. 	5. Reversing Video Device Sponsorship Scheme for Heavy Vehicles on Construction Sites To reduce the number of accidents involving reversing vehicles on construction sites, the Council, the Labour Department and the Hong Kong Construction Association launch the "Reversing Video Device Sponsorship Scheme for Heavy Vehicles on Construction Sites". Flammable Storage Cabinet Sponsorship Scheme for SMEs in Printing Industry To enhance the occupational safety and health standard of the printing industry and to reduce the number of accidents involving the storage of flammable liquids, the Occupational Safety and Health Council launches a sponsorship scheme for SMEs in Printing Industry to purchase Flammable Storage Cabinet.
