Hong Kong Alliance for Safe & Healthy School

For years, Occupational Safety and Health Council (OSHC), The Centre for Health Education and Health Promotion of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CHEP) and The Children Injury Prevention and Research Association (CIPRA) works individually for promoting safety and health in school. We believe the joining of our resources will lead to more effective result in promoting safety and health. Thanks to the Alliance of the three organizations, more useful information sharing, availability of professionalism in different aspect making the idea of ‘Safe and Healthy School' comes live. The safe and healthy school concept is to provide adequate safety and health protection to all teachers, staff, students and others in school as well as to build and maintain a close relationship with families and the community. The objective of developing a safe and healthy school is to build a safe, healthy, harmonious and happy environment for all people to study and work. 。

Accreditation of Hong Kong Safe & Healthy School

The Guidelines for Hong Kong Safe & Healthy School Accreditation Scheme prepared by the Alliance aiming to encourage schools to establish their own Safety and Health Management system with continuous improvement. The management system has already considered the 7 indicators for ‘Safe School' and the 6 requirements for ‘Healthy School' under World Health Organization. School should develop their own Safe & Healthy School Management System according to these guidelines. The school can assess the management system's themselves by using the attached free assessment programme aiming the continual improvement in safety and health performance. The school can apply for the accreditation whenever their management system is ready. The school's management system will be assessed by the assessor(s) of Hong Kong Alliance of Safe and Healthy School. The Alliance will issue accreditation certificate to the school and the school will become an accredited Hong Kong Safe and Healthy School if it meets the performance criteria under these guidelines. The application fee is FREE.

Application for the Accreditation Scheme

The application of the accreditation scheme is welcome to all schools including kindergartens, primary and secondary schools.
