Display Screen Equipment (DSE) like computers become the must-have equipment in modern workplaces. For employees working in office environment, they usually need to use computer workstations for a prolong time. For those not using an appropriate posture, or for those using a workstation that is not properly designed, they may encounter health problems such as upper limb pains and discomfort, back discomfort , eyestrain, etc. The Occupational Safety and Health (Display Screen Equipment) Regulation requires that the person responsible for a workplace shall take steps to reduce any risks in a DSE workstation identified in a risk assessment to the lowest extent as is reasonably and assessing the risk to the safety and health of users of a workstation; deciding whether existing precautions are adequate; and recording the findings. The regulation aims at protecting employees who use display screen equipment at work for prolonged periods of time.
