OSH Research
Since its founding in 1988, the Occupational Safety and Health Council has been actively engaged in research. The Council has set up a Research Grant to support universities and other organisations to collaborate with the Council in research projects in a bid to identify OSH problems facing enterprises and the community. These researches are important for the Council to develop strategies and directions, which help enhance the effectiveness of our effort in promoting OSH standard across all occupations.
Throughout these years, Hong Kong has experienced economic restructuring and the Council has initiated research topics according to the changes in OSH issues. Apart from continuing to study issues in high-risk industries, such as the scaffold and working platform, safety helmets, OSH of the construction industry, OSH of the catering industry, the Council has been looking into other new areas, such as the quality of life and OSH culture of employees and the community, the healthy diet and exercises of employees, etc. Through examining human behavioural patterns and habits, we hope to find the causes of the problems, and devise effective solution to overcome them.
